Omnia Winter Sports Training Program

Get outside for longer, perform better, recover faster, avoid injury

Do you spend the winter out on the mountains skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing or hiking? Do you wish you could stay out longer, take fewer breaks and feel better the next day? Are you concerned with getting injured? We have the solution for you.

What is the Winter Sports Training Program?

Starting on September 30th 2019 and running for 8 weeks, this is a training program designed to make your outdoor experience better. We’re going to focus on

  • Strength

  • Muscular Endurance

  • Balance

  • Core Strength

  • Mobility + Flexibility

  • Recovery Methods

  • Injury Prevention

The goal is that you’re able to improve your physical performance, regardless of your current fitness routine. You want to get the most out of your winter sports and you need to be physically ready to handle whatever the mountain throws at you. This program will get you closer to your perfect winter day!

What does the program include?

  • 8 x 45 min in person coached classes (no CrossFit experience required)

  • 16 x 30-45 min at home training sessions

  • Ongoing support from a coach throughout the program

  • We provide you the equipment to complete the home workouts - You get to keep everything when the program finishes and continue your training through the winter!

The workouts will consist of:

  • Leg Strength - get stronger and reduce your risk of injuries using weighted movements focused on lower body squat, hip hinge and single leg work

  • Balance - improve your knee and ankle strength and reactions to change of direction using single leg drills and stability drills

  • Flexibility - improve your hip and ankle flexibility to give you more range of movement using bands and stretches

  • Muscular Endurance - avoid burning out mid run or half way through the day, limit the number of breaks you need to take using high volume exercises

  • Core Strength - this assists with balance and muscular endurance to allow you to go longer using body weight and weighted movements

  • Recovery Methods - end of the day drills and routines to get you feeling ready to head back out for day 2

What is required of you?

  • Commitment to the program! We want you to turn up each week, enthusiastic and ready to work.

  • Don’t skip the home workouts! These are essential to the program and will require self motivation to complete on your own time

  • Self awareness - the coach will assist you in using the correct weights and resistances for each movement, but be realistic with yourself on your starting position and what is safe to do

“I was late in life coming to skiing and didn't really start until 2015 when I was going through a divorce. I quickly determined that I was lacking in core strength, leg strength and endurance. I started at CrossFit Omnia in the fall of 2017 and I found that it immediately helped me on the slopes. I'm no longer sore the next day and am able to stay out on the mountain for a full day. My skiing is also helped by the fact I’ve lost over 30 pounds!”
